This is our blog, the blog of Claryssa Suci Fong and Sandra Dewi Wirawan. We made this blog together, because we share common interest and expectation for better life through translation and interpreting jobs. We have been doing these since the year 2000 when we were still studying in Sanata Dharma University Yogyakarta.

Claryssa Suci Fong

You can call me whatever you like, Claryssa, Suci, or Fong. I am an interpreter, an assistant and a translator, but I specialize myself in English Indonesian Interpreting and being a professional personal assistant. My educational background was English Letters, although it was not completed. I have cooperated with a lot of foreigners from many different institutions and backgrounds, also various characteristics, which I found unique and gave me fascinating experiences. In addition, sometimes I also teach Bahasa Indonesia to foreigners.

- Consecutive Interpreting for representative of foreign NGO: ACDI/VOCA.
- Consecutive Interpreting for Indonesian Christian Church Gondomanan, Yogyakarta.
- Consecutive Interpreting for a foreign tourist for pleasure around Yogyakarta.
- Assisting to a Research Anthropologist from UCLA.
- Administration Assisting in a psychological research from Germany held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. 

Sandra Dewi Wirawan

You can call me Sandra. I am a graduate of English Education Study program, Sanata Dharma University Yogyakarta. I enjoy doing translation works. Therefore, I specialize myself in English Indonesian Translating.

- I have been working as translator since the year 2000 with various topics; agriculture, economics, education, engineering, medical, legal, social, governmental, art, etc.

The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner

The Sound and the Fury is a complicated work, but it is worth the time to understand. It is written with stream-of-consciousness technique in which the characters’ actual thought process in mind is put into words, and interior monologue technique in which the characters produce monologue of their thoughts.

There are four major characters in the novel, namely the four Compson children. They have different characters and characteristics. Benjamin Compson is an idiot who is attached to his sister Caddy. Quentin is loving and bright, yet so obsessed with his sister Caddy that he commits suicide. Jason is a bitter, angry, and selfish guy. The last is Candace Compson (Caddy). She is gentle, caring, but lost.

Tips for good translation

1. read the whole article to get the whole idea
2. start translating per sentences
3. find the meaning or the words you do not know in the dictionary or find the synonim in the thesaurus
4. if you cannot find the difficult word in the dictionary, read through the sentences over and over again, and discover your own word meaning.
5. be consistent with the word meaning for the same terms.
6. practice makes perfect.
